Dr. Stephen Leonard built Grantline Veterinary Hospital with the goal to provide complete and compassionate medicine, surgery, and preventative care for pets of all ages, while building long lasting friendships with the pet owners in his community.
With that vision in mind, in 1983, Dr. Leonard began to build Grantline Veterinary Hospital. It’s been more than 25 years since Grantline Veterinary Hospital first opened its doors, and to this day, Dr. Leonard’s vision and Grantline Veterinary Hospital’s Mission Statement have remained the same.
Grantline Veterinary Hospital was remodeled and expanded in 1991, to its current 6000 square foot facility, making it one of the largest veterinary facilities in the area. Grantline Veterinary Hospital, Inc. remains the oldest privately owned veterinary hospital in Elk Grove, Ca.
Grantline Veterinary Hospital provides medical, surgical, and preventative medicine to dogs and cat, as well as providing boarding services for our patients. The hospital is equipped to hospitalize pets that require medical or surgical care as well. Grantline Veterinary Hospital is equipped with state of the art equipment including our newest addition- Our Surgical Laser.
The surgical laser was added with patient comfort in mind. Using the surgical laser allows the veterinarian to perform surgery while minimizing discomfort and decreasing post surgical pain for the patient. Additionally, it affords our patients a quicker healing time and helps prevent surgical site infections.
We can use the surgical laser for a variety of surgical procedures, from the least invasive cyst removal, to routine spays and neuters, to more extensive surgeries including delicate eye, nose and oral surgery, and much more.
Grantline Veterinary also offers, as a convienence service to our clients, the services of Board Certified Veterinary Specialists at our hospital, when the need arises. Additionally, we offer a wide variety of preventative health services, including well animal examinations, vaccinations, health certificates, boarding and much more. In 1983, Dr. Stephen Leonard, a 1977 graduate of U C Davis, and his family moved to Elk Grove with the goal of building a veterinary hospital where he could provide excellent veterinary care and exceptional customer services in his own thriving community.
Prior to settling in Elk Grove, CA. Dr. Leonard practiced veterinary medicine in a small animal clinic in Redding, CA, as well as in a mixed animal hospital in Anderson, CA. Dr. Leonard established a mixed animal practice Hayfork, CA., and was a founding member of the first small animal emergency clinic in Anderson, CA.
Dr. Leonard has remained an active member of the Elk Grove community and continues to practice veterinary medicine at Grantline Veterinary Hospital, Inc.
Dr. Leonard has also retained his ties to the School of Veterinary Medicine at
U C Davis and its Teaching Hospital by serving on numerous committees as well as teaching special courses offered through the University to younger students seeking to promote the veterinary profession.
